Our story begins with María López, originally from Arcelia, Guerrero, Mexico.
After arriving in the United States around 1994, she found a way to support her family through cooking. At the time, there was no plan to open a restaurant or build a business.
She simply prepared homemade tamales from her kitchen for special orders and family events.
Over time, a customer named Jerónimo began buying her tamales and recommending them to others. Thanks to word-of-mouth referrals, demand steadily grew.
What began as small orders soon became a loyal customer base and the opportunity to dream of something bigger.
The opportunity came with a location that had previously operated as a bakery and later as a Salvadoran and Mexican tamale shop.
The business already carried the name El Globo, which was kept out of respect for the reputation it had built within the community.
Located in an area with a strong Hispanic population, the restaurant quickly became known for the quality of its food and the support of its loyal customers.
María López passed down her knowledge and family recipes to her daughter, Francelia Arteaga, who learned every step of the process firsthand. Today, Carlos represents the next generation, helping grow the business while preserving the values and traditions that inspired its beginning. Our family business is now proudly supported by a team of approximately 15 dedicated employees who help make this tradition possible every day.

We believe the difference lies in doing things the right way. Our tamales are known for their generous portions, handmade preparation, and authentic homemade flavor. We don't try to reinvent traditional recipes. We work every day to preserve them. That's been our commitment since day one.
To preserve and share the authentic flavor of our family recipes by crafting handmade tamales with dedication, quality, and respect for our heritage.
To continue growing within our community while bringing our family tradition to more homes, special events, and future generations.
